Modularity Textures

This week we had the task to go on Substance Sampler and Substance Designer to create brick textures.

In Substance Sampler it was quite simple to create a brick texture. Its very simple to just use the layers with different types of textures (like dust and moss) and layer them up to create a realistic brick texture. I wasn't sure in what to do next with this as I wasn't shown what to do in class and just followed the slides to make this.

Then I moved to Substance Designer to try to create a brick texture there. This one was a bit more complicated but I followed the tutorial on the slides and got the hang of it. I didn't get to finish the whole step by steps as I started close to the end of lesson and I was having problems on step 14 as my blending mode wasn't working and turning the brick texture a solid black. I would like next lesson to ask someone how to resolve this. I hope next lesson to understand how to move these textures to go on my building.

I also had a chance to do my quick , ruff block out for my café building. I just wanted to confirm that my design was fitting with the theme. Even though my outside design is creative and magical I tend to make the textures , windows , door and inside designs Victorian.

With my block out, I created the pop out windows creating a cylinder and changing it to the point of my design.

For the roof as its supposed to be whipped cream I used Torus shape to create a quick simple design. I hope to create my whipped cream roof in ZBrush to make it more arcuate and then import it into Maya.

I also inserted my cat sign I made last week to put it all together. I need to made the sign double sided so you can view it from all angle.
